Elementary STEM Units

Session description

A one-day session includes curricular materials and details the thematic units purchased. Participants are introduced to three tools that Pitsco believes are critical to teaching STEM concepts, all of which can be implemented in your classroom instruction. Pitsco facilitators assist in the setup of the materials, provide organizational strategies, and consult with teachers about best methods for implementation based on the classroom environment.

Grades 3-5 STREAM Missions

Session description

During this one-day seminar, professional development facilitators work with participants to review the Missions framework, define program elements, explain student and teacher roles, describe curriculum components, develop strategies for using the digital learning platform, and orient teachers to resources and organizational tools. A variety of instructional methodologies are used, including audiovisual tutorials, presentation, and discussion. Facilitators present and discuss management and organizational strategies and review the teacher portal and resources within the learning content management system.

Microburst Learning

Microburst Learning EmployABILITY Soft Skills program provides critical skills every student needs to be successful in school and life. Participants in this workshop will learn to teach concepts that include Teamwork, Communication, Interpersonal Skills, and Conflict Resolution. In the classroom, each topic culminates in a hands-on group activity that emphasizes the skill and provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their own learning. Teachers can implement and improve these skills when facilitating the Pitsco Expeditions curriculum.

TETRIX® Robotics

During this one-day seminar, professional development facilitators work with participants to introduce and review the history of the Pitsco Education TETRIX® robotics platform. This workshop is highly hands on with attendees diving right in, creating remote-controlled and programmable robots. Our facilitators share building tips and tricks and classroom management ideas and review the curriculum and resources available for setting your classroom up for success.

For workshops in Pittsburg, KS, participants should fly into Kansas City, MO (2-1/2 hours away); Springfield, MO (2 hours away); or Tulsa, OK (2 hours away). Upon completion of the workshop, it is recommended that flight times depart no earlier than 7:30 a.m. from any of the above mentioned locations. REMINDER: You must be at least 25 years of age to rent a car.
