During this one-day seminar, professional development facilitators work with participants to review the Missions framework, define program elements, explain student and teacher roles, describe curriculum components, develop strategies for using the digital learning platform, and orient teachers to resources and organizational tools. A variety of instructional methodologies are used, including audiovisual tutorials, presentation, and discussion. Facilitators present and discuss management and organizational strategies and review the teacher portal and resources within the learning content management system.

During this five-day professional development experience, you will prepare to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 certification test. You will also receive instruction on how the curriculum is organized as well as best practices for student classroom delivery. Covered topics relating to student instruction will include how to prepare students to take the FAA Part 107 certification to become licensed commercial drone pilots; how to instruct them on current government regulations related to drone operation; how drones are used for various commercial applications and drone operation for those applications; how weather impacts drone aviation; and how to read relevant maps, understand terrain features in those maps, and use aeronautical sectional charts to operate drones safely in the airspace.
